BIOGRAPHY
Robert Anthony Rodriguez was born on June 20, 1968 in San Antonio, Texas. His family is of Mexican descent. He was always a very creative young man, an artist by nature. His mother instilled in him a love of movies by frequently taking him to the Olmos Theater movie theater in San Antonio. From a very young age he began filming with the family’s old Super 8 film camera and made his first films with his brothers and sisters. He enters the University of Texas to study film and with his own money makes Bedhead (1991). Later he wrote, produced, directed, photographed and edited El Mariachi , which was very well received at Sundance in 1992. His second film De él Desperado introduced American audiences to Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek. His friend Quentin Tarantino later produced the vampire film From Dusk Till Dawn . He became a very prolific director, among his best-known films we find The Faculty, Spy Kids , The Mexican , Machete and Shorts: The Magic Stone , among many others. In 2001 he would found his own production house, Troublemaker Studios. Among his latest works we find Alita : Battle Angel , Machete Kills in Space and UglyDolls.
