BIOGRAPHY
Son of a painter, Riccardo Scamarcio decided in the early 1990s to leave for Rome on the advice of a friend to take courses at the National Cinema School. Appearing in a few TV films intended for television alongside major Italian actors, he was spotted in 2003 by director Marco Tullio Giordana who asked him to star in his film Our Best Years . The same year, he starred in the film Three Meters Above the Sky which will make him the new symbol of the new generation of Italian actors alongside actors like Kim Rossi Stuart .
He subsequently moved on to Italian projects, becoming one of the most sought-after actors. After The Smell of Blood , he played the role of a criminal in Romanzo criminale . We find him in 2007 in My Brother is an Only Son then in Go Go Tales by Abel Ferrara, still unpublished in France. Costa-Gavras Gavras called on him in 2009 to play the role of an illegal immigrant in Eden in the West . Alongside his film career, Riccardo Scamarcio has also distinguished himself on Italian stage as well as in various video clips and TV films. Having received several national awards, he starred in 3 films in 2010, including The Italian Dream and La Prima Linea .
After playing two small roles in Polisse (2011) and To Rome with Love (2012), Riccardo Scamarcio plays a ruthless and charismatic rich drug trafficker in the gangster film Gibraltar carried by Gilles Lelouche . An international actor, he then joined Willem Dafoe for the needs of Pasolini by Abel Ferrara , found Kim Rossi Stuart in the period film Italian Tales and finally took part in the culinary Burnt with American superstar Bradley Cooper .
Riccardo then lends his features to Orlando, brother of the famous singer Dalida in the biopic dedicated to the artist. He then opposite Toni Servillo alias Berlusconi in Paolo Sorrentino’s Silvio and the Others . In the meantime, the Italian plays the bad guy on duty in John Wick 2 , confronting Keanu Reeves. He also delivers a moving performance in Euforiaby Valeria Golino. He then found another Valeria, Bruni-Tedeschi this time, in the dramatic comedy Les Estivants .
In 2019, the actor crossed paths with the intransigent Lambert Wilson in the thriller The Translators . Isolated in a luxurious home with no possible contact with the outside world, nine translators are brought together to translate the final volume of one of the greatest successes in world literature.
