Rhett and Link – Bio
Rhett James McLaughlin was born on October 11, 1977 in Georgia. Charles Lincoln Neal III was born on June 1, 1978 in North Carolina. The story of how these BFFs met is a story that rivals any Hollywood conspiracy. They met on their first day of first grade at Buies Creek Elementary School in North Carolina. The date was September 4, 1984. They were in the same class and their teacher, Mrs. Locklear, forbade them to take a break because they had written profanity on their desk. As part of the punishment, she sentenced them to coloring mythical beasts. They became instant friends while inking and have been together ever since. For college, Rhett and Link attended North Carolina State University, where they lived together. While Link studied industrial engineering, Rhett earned a degree in civil engineering. After completing their studies, both joined the conventional workforce and worked for large technology companies. However, their good jobs did not bring them fulfillment. As teenagers, they were always creative spirits, writing and directing films and dissatisfied with their regular jobs. They therefore decided to find a creative way.
They created a website (at the time YouTube didn’t exist) and started uploading comical musical performances. The site garnered some views, but these remained largely unknown. All of that changed in 2006 when another person posted one of the videos from their website to YouTube. The video of Rhett’s son crying became a viral sensation. When Rhett and Link saw how successful the video was on YouTube, they decided to move there and make internet entertainment a day-long affair. You now have several popular YouTube channels. One of them is Good Mythical Morning, a daily talk show where they cover interesting topics like pop culture, lifestyle, science and technology. The show also features incredible things like eating the world’s hottest chilli and trying out weird food combinations. Another popular station is Rhett and Link.
