Lin Manuel Miranda was born on January 16, 1980, in Upper Manhattan, New York. His mother, Luz Towns, was a clinical psychologist, while his father, Luis A. Miranda Jr., was a political adviser to the mayor of New York. Both of her parents are Puerto Rican. He grew up in a Hispanic neighborhood of Inwood and grew up. Young Miranda was still sent on a month-long vacation with his grandparents to Peurto Rica every year.
