BIOGRAPHY
Initially oriented towards a career as an engineer, Judd Hirsch finally turned to comedy. After a discreet debut in the cinema in 1971 in Jump , he took on roles on television, in TV films and series like Medical Story , Delvecchio and Rhoda . The award-winning series Taxi revealed it to the general public in 1978. For 5 seasons, he is part of a team of taxi drivers who dream of a more exciting life, alongside Tony Danza and Danny DeVito .
In 1988, he became the hero of his own series, Dear John , where his character spent four years recovering from the departure of his wife, who left him for his best friend. He shared the lead role in the only season of George & Leo in 1997 with Bob Newhart , then multiplied his appearances on TV in series like Philly , New York Special Unit and Street Time , before finding a regular role in Numb3rs ( 2005). He plays the father of an FBI agent ( Rob Morrow ) and a math genius ( David Krumholtz ). We then find him in the casting of the last two seasons of Damages , opposite Glenn Close and Rose Byrne and the independent series Maron , named after its creator.
Also present on the big screen, Judd Hirsch appeared in King of the Gypsies (1978), then under the direction of Robert Redford in People Like Others (1980). After Teachers in 1984, he played alongside Christopher Reeve in The Great Escape 2 (1988), a television sequel to the famous 1963 film, and especially in the magnificent À bout de course by Sidney Lumet , in which he played the father on the run. by River Phoenix . In 1996, he gave advice to Jeff Goldblum on saving the world in Roland Emmerich ‘s blockbuster Independence Day .
