Itzan Escamilla studied theater in Madrid at Cristina Rota’s school before taking his first steps on the small Spanish screen with appearances in the series Seis hermanas and Centro Médico . It was thanks to a leading role in the second season of the period thriller Víctor Ros that he became known. At the same time, he also distinguished himself on stage and won over the public in an adaptation of David Lindsay-Abaire’s Parallel Universes, in which he participated alongside actresses Malena Alterio and Belén Cuesta .

It was after an appearance in the Hispanic series El Final del Camino and El Ministerio del Tiempo that Itzan Escamilla began his collaboration with Netflix by playing the young version of Francisco ( Todd Haberkorn ) in the second season of Girls on the Telephone . But his career took off when he landed one of the leading roles in another Netflix production, Elite . The teenage series, compared to the American Gossip Girl , Riverdale and Big Little Lies , begins with the arrival of three new students from the working class at the most exclusive school in Spain. The ensuing class struggle quickly leads to murder. Itzan Escamilla plays Samuel García Domínguez, an honest and hardworking young man who lusts after the beautiful and wealthy Marina ( María Pedraza ) while trying to lead his brother ( Jaime Lorente ) on the right path. This role propelled him to the forefront of the international television scene with the broadcast of the series in more than 190 countries.

On the cinema side, the young actor debuted in the Spanish drama Planeta 5000 in 2018 directed by Aragonese filmmaker Carlos Val . The feature film is inspired by a title by the Spanish group Video from 1984 and tells the life of young Sergio and Iris around a dangerous cult. As in the song, he dreams of entering while she dreams of escaping.
