BIOGRAPHY
A high school student in Bar-le-Duc, Isabelle Nanty started in an amateur theater troupe. Finding her way in comedy, she decided to go to Paris and enrolled in the Florent course. She appeared for the first time in the cinema in Le Faucon by Paul Boujenah . In 1989, she met Jacques Weber , who welcomed her into his troupe at the National Drama Center in Nice.
It was in 1990, thanks to Auntie Danielle by Etienne Chatiliez , that Isabelle Nanty became known to the general public. She brilliantly plays the “babysitter” of a tyrannical old lady. While multiplying cheeky characters on the big screen, she staged several plays and shows during the 90s. We subsequently found her as a hypochondriac tobacconist in Le Fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain , which allowed her to obtain a nomination at the Césars as best supporting actress. In 2002, she played Itinéris alongside Christian Clavier and Gérard Depardieu in Astérix et Obélix: mission Cléopâtre .
Drawing on her experience as an actress and director in the theater, Isabelle Nanty tried her hand at directing in 2002, with Le Bison (and her neighbor Dorine) , a comedy in which she found Edouard Baer who was once her student at the Florent course. The following year, Alain Resnais directed her in Pas sur la bouche , a dramatic comedy where she reunited for the occasion with Audrey Tautou . She then made a few films but which had no impact on the public. It was in 2006 that Isabelle Nanty regained her panache by playing Jean Rochefort ‘s press secretary in Antoine de Caunes’ Désaccord parfait . Accustomed to supporting comic roles, she plays opposite Franck Dubosc and Gérard Depardieu in Fabien Onteniente ‘s new film , Disco . That same year, 2008, Etienne Chatiliez directed her again in a social comedy as he has the secret, Agathe Cléry . In the following years, she always moved towards comedy. This is evidenced by her characters as the very demanding agent of Bénabar in Incognito (2009) by Eric Lavaine and as a dog groomer in Trésor (id.), the last film directed by Claude Berri .
Tuche (2011) alongside Jean-Paul Rouve as well as the sketch film Les Infidèles (2012). After which, Isabelle Nanty returned to popular success by reuniting with Pierre-François Martin-Laval who directed her in his adaptation of the comic strip of the same name Les Profs where she played Gladys, the very strict English teacher with totally improbable behavior. She returned to her character two years later for her sequel soberly titled Les Profs 2 which was released in 2015.
The following year, the actress was in the casting of another sequel to a very lucrative film, Les Tuche 2 – The American Dream . Here again, success was achieved, since the feature film generated more than 4.6 million admissions, thus leading to a third opus, Les Tuche 3: Liberté, Egalité, FraterniTuche .
At the same time, Isabelle Nanty appears several times in a few television series such as Fais pas ci, fait pas ça and Peplum where she plays a slave in Ancient Rome.
