Son of a Spanish father and a Mexican mother, Gonzalo Agustín Vega González was born on November 19, 1946, in Mexico City. He studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, majoring in commerce, but his interest was always in acting, so he studied at the National Institute of Fine Arts.
Gonzalo debuted as an actor in the play La ronda de la hechizada , in 1968. A year later, he had his first participation in cinema, in the film Los memoria del porvenir (1969) and later participated in the film Las piranhas aman en cuaresma. (1969)
But his greatest successes happened on television, becoming one of the favorite and most representative actors in soap operas, whose small screen debut was in Sublime Redemption, which was followed by Pecado de amor, Wuthering Heights, La divina Sarah, Todo una vida, La Traión, Muchcahita and Cuna de lobos , a recognized telenovela where he won the TVyNovelas award for best leading actor.
The actor was also an important and recurring face in the era of fichera cinema, in films such as Portrait of a Married Woman (1982), Terror and Black Lace (1985), Knockout (1984) and La mestiza (1991).
One of his most recognized roles, becoming a favorite among the public, was in the play “La Señora Presidenta”, which remained in theaters for 17 years.
At the end of 2010 he was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Although she recovered, his last big role in cinemas was in the film Nos los Nobles (2013), which was a success at the box office.
Gonzalo Vega died after fighting a strong battle against his illness, on October 10, 2016.
